Default Ruger SR22 range report: FTF fiasco

Took my Ruger SR22 to the range for the first time. I cleaned and lubed it out of the box. Fed it about 100 rounds of Federal Champion 40 gr. Had multiple FTF's in every magazine I shot. First time shooting 22LR, so I'm looking for feedback as to possible problems. Is it this particular ammo in this particular gun? I hear and read a lot of good stuff about CCI, and I'd love to try it, but it is impossible to find. Any other ammo recommendations for the SR22? It seems like a great little gun for plinking and targets, but I was disappointed with this initial outing. Thanks ahead of time for any suggestions.

Try other ammo or at least another lot number. Yes 22 is still hard to get so it's going to take a while. Make sure the mag is loaded correctly, tap the back as you load rounds.

Many .22 semi autos are ammo sensitive, especially when new. Some don't like the bulk stuff, some do. Check the mags, and see if you have the malfunctions with both mags. It is probably the ammo. My .22 pistols like Federal bulk, Federal Automatch, and CCI. ALL are hard to find. I have pretty much stopped shooting .22 for now as I reload center fire, and can at least make that.

You may have a lemon or it could be faulty magazine.

I own this pistol and mine runs flawlessly. Ruger has great customer service so if the problems persist see about having it looked at. This gun shouldn't be running so unreliably and is definitely a very reliable .22 LR semi auto.

As said, try other ammo, you may have gotten a bad lot. My SR22 needed some breakin, but after 300 rounds it takes all ammo without an issue. See if you can find some of the hot .22's for a breakin. If that does not work, call Ruger.

Most people who have a the sr22 report that cci minimags are what it prefers even after the break in and a polished feed ramp.

My SR22 eats whatever I feed it. No issues with it at all. I'm curious to hear if different ammo solves this issue though.

I have found 22 semis to be very sensitive to "limp wristing". Since its a 22 we tend to not hold on very tight. I currently only have a Buckmark and it will shoot what ever is on hand, including 40 year old Kleenbore Remingtons.

I picked up 2 50 round boxes of CCI at Bass pro in Harrisburg for $2.69 each last weekend, wish i could have bought more. The policy is two boxes a day but that could be two bricks? as it was i was happy.
Sit down! You'll never clear leather.

If you're limp wristing a .22 then you gotta be like 6 or on your death bed. The sr22 has no recoil.
