ever time your CCW "bill drill"?
that is a reaction time, draw, and 6 hits, at 7 yds. That's 2x as far as is likely to matter when it's for real, but it's the range everyone uses for this drill, so far comparison purposes, we should stick with it. 2 seconds is very fast from an open wear rig (but concealable) with a govt model .45 and full charge ammo, all 6 hits on the chest. With a speed rig, top men can do this in 1.5 seconds.
from real concealment, under a T shirt, with a lw, compact .45, same ammo, figure on closer to 2.5 seconds for those same 6 hits ( which is how long a typical cop would need to react, draw and get the first hit (reliably)
The average guy who ccw's a gun, if he can get 6 hits, reliably, will need 5 seconds or more. You can get shot 4-5x in one second, by one guy, :-). A man can cover 30 fps, if he's already in a full run, or 10 ft in 1 second, from a standing start.
there's no excuse for being slow anymore. Airsoft guns (1/2 c per shot, at most) and a $4 shooting timer app on your smart phone can make you as fast as anyone ever was, if you train properly. I started working on ccw draws in 1964. It's fun. Airsoft is great for learning to hit aerial targets, like tossed up 1" rocks, because the orange pellets are easily visible in flight.Last edited by done; July 20th, 2014 at 06:07 PM.
