22LR - One Data Point
So my local LGS announced an incoming shipment fo 580 x 1k bricks (Yes, thats 580,000 rounds) of 22LR, and the days when portions would be put out for sale. The biggest block (400 bricks) went out this morning (well, actually yesterday morning by now) at 10 AM, limit one brick per person.
They were sold out at 12:15PM.
This is ONE LGS!
For those (like me) who are trying to look at the glass half-full . . . this was by FAR the largest shipment they have received since 22LR went on the endangered species list.

I never heard of thousand round bricks. A brick is five hundred.

Re: 22LR - One Data Point
They were Winchester M22s, they came in single packs of 1k that the vendor called a brick, and that vendor/LGS was Tanners in Jamison.
The point of my post was to note the high volume/short time, not to tell folks where the ammo was but no longer is.
Today Tanners say "they had to buy a ton of guns from that distributer in order to get that ammo", so there's some more possible insight into who/how the situation is being manipulated.
Tanners posts/announcements - and those of some other reloading suppliers (eg, Powder Valley, Midsouth Shooters) - are already publicly available on Facebook.

Re: 22LR - One Data Point
Tanners should be a household for every gun owner in Pa. I have never shopped there but I will soon enough. They never price gouged on anything during the latest drought. They have amazing sales and not just for one or two specimens, they buy in bulk. They also try to please as many customers as possible.
I still will buy most of my guns from my lgs but Tanners will get a purchase from me once or twice a year. Some people just plain suck.
If you're gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough.

I posted this info on the Deals on Ammo and Accessories thread on Thursday. Tanners posted on FB how the ammo was going out. 100 bricks Monday, 20 on Tues, Wed and Thurs. 59.99 each for the Winchester M22 1000 round Package.

Re: 22LR - One Data Point
*sigh* I praise God's guidance that I bought a bit of 22 LR before the latest buying frenzy. Seriously, I had this foreboding that I could not explain, so I bought a brick each time I got anything else.
That being said, I am happy that we can still get 22 LR in reasonable quantities. 500 to 1,000 rounds at a crack being reasonable.
I can go through 50 rounds in quarter of an hour with careful well placed shots. Some folks will burn up that much in under a minute.
22 LR is simply too useful, handy and fun to buy in small quantities.
