    Default Silicon Gun Socks?

Anyone here use silicon gun socks? Those 5 dollar Allen ones at Wallyworld in particular. Pros? Cons? I am looking for something to keep my guns from dinging each other in the safe. I heard that the silicon can leave marks in the wood and holds in moisture, but iv also heard that they are great. Thoughts?

I have two of them but had no idea they had silicone in them. They are both too tight to the point of being a major hassle putting them on and off. My 10/22 with a scope is particularly so. No so much the shotgun.

I have started using the cheap zip up cloth guncases from walmart and treat it myself with a can of the spray silicon.
just literally soak the guncase with the silicon, let it dry and you have the best of both worlds but have the safety of the heavier padding of the case.

I was getting a rust issue for awhile because of the building I live in, but this, in the last 3 yrs or so, has solved that so far.

I use gun socks, have over 40 of them I suppose.

I don't have any fine English shotguns or $2000 hunting rifles with AAA exhibition grade stocks, but for the things I have stored in them I've never had one leave a mark and I never get rust.

I do pull them all out at least once a year and give them an oiling though.

If you are looking at longer term storage or have a bad moisture issue, I'd look into VCI bags and some silica. You can use silica kitty litter to absorb moisture.

Also, you don't need to buy one for every gun n your safe(s), just one for every other one.

Thanks. I think I'll give them a try.

Keep all my gun socks in one of my sock drawers.
