Default Looking for a new 9mm

Looking for a new 9mm to replace a recently traded Nano. I was at my favorite lcs this week and checked out a Sig p938. Sweet gun, but a bit on the small side and I'm concerned that the 3" barrel will translate to inaccurate shooting. Not really looking for a pocket pistol, but something easy to owb.

I also checked out the M&P Pro 9 with a 4.25 barrel. Felt great in the hand and appreciate it's double stack capability. I've read how people hate their trigger though and not sure how comfortable it'll be to edc.

Ok, so what's in between? I have a budget of ~$600. What would you be looking at? Oh, no Glocks please.

Many thanks and happy independence day. Let's keep it that way!

I have a P238 which is the little brother of the 938. Even with the small size of the gun, it's easy to make a small, ragged hole in a target at 7-10 yards. You may be surprised at how accurate they are. I was seriously considering a 938 but wanted more rounds at my disposal.

You can also check out compact M&P's, anything from the XD/XDm/XDS line, too.

Lots of options out there for std. size 9mm.

In your price range theres the M&P line, the XD/XDM, and also the FNX or FNS on the higher end of the budget.

Also the new VP9 from H&K looks promising and pricing looks like $600-$650.

I own a Shield in 9mm and its not bad, trigger and reset aren't the greatest.

I had an XD in 45 and it felt good in the hand and was reliable but so-so trigger.

Ive shot an FNX in 45 and 9mm, ergos felt good and they were nice shooters. I am surprised how little attention these guns get.

Out of curiosity what are your reasons for not looking at Glock?

On a side note, if you like everything about the M&P besides the trigger you can always buy one second hand and then get the Apex parts to fix the trigger "problems" and still probably come in under budget.

Why not a Glock? I know this is shallow as they're excellent guns, but I can't stand looking at them. So ugly, like they're carved from a bar of soap. To me anyway.

+1, That's usually my go to when people ask about an EDC 9mm on a budget, slipped my mind this time.

I wasn't even thinking about this one. Interesting choice.
