HiViz front bead
I'm thinking about putting one on my bedside Mossberg 500. Anybody use them? Comments or criticism please. Thanks!

Re: HiViz front bead
I have one on my Ruger MKIII pistol. It's a helluva lot easier to use than the stock black sight.
If I had a shotgun, I'd put a HiViz sight on it.Μολὼν λάβε

Re: HiViz front bead
I have the magnetic stick-on type on all my shotguns. The long pipe almost 2 inches. NOT the ones from Wal Mart. I'm surprised I haven't lost one hunting yet, they really hold. I can break anything. Works great with shot or slugs from my 22 inch 1100.

I have one on my Remmy. I liked switching out the inserts of different sizes and colors.
No issues whatsoever. I settled on the smallest green fiber.
I taught Chuck Norris to bump-fire.

I have the HiViz that snaps on the barrel on both of my Mossy 590's, nice and eazy to see. I have the bright geen tubes installed on both.

Re: HiViz front bead
The one from Wal Mart is the one I'm looking at. It comes with a variety of screws in different sizes and threads to fit different brands. For five bucks I figured it would be worth a try. The lite pipe is very short. About .25" or maybe less.
Will the magnetic type work without a rib? All that I've seen look like they would need one. My 20" Persuader doesn't have one.
ETA: I'm thinking that any fiber optic would be more visible than my gold bead. Am I wrong?Last edited by unloved; June 16th, 2008 at 07:03 PM.

Re: HiViz front bead
I have the one your talking about on my 870, but mine is just a smooth barrel, I like it. Its definitely better than the gold bead, but I am on the lookout for one of the raised style. For the price you can't beat it, thats why I bought it.

Yes Hi-Viz Makes one for non ribbed barrels it snaps around the barrel. I have one on my Winchester 1200. I also have the magnetic ones on the rest of my shotguns and in three years not one has come off.

OK, I have a question. Why do you even need a sight for a home defense shotgun, let alone one that glows green/red in daylight? If you ever need to use that shot gun (in your house) you won't be aiming it, you'll be pointing it, If you are looking at your front sight, your not looking at your target. In addition, it will most likely be night time when you need to deploy it, making a sight that requires light to see/glow useless. Night sights or an attached flashlight would be the way to go. jm2c
