    Default Kind of silly really...

TL;DR- Looking to have the surface of this Seekins Enhanced Bolt Catch milled to fit in my upper. Or have my upper bolt-catch channel milled to fit the bolt catch. Because I'm weird.

Okay. This isn't necessarily Gunsmithing in the truest sense of the word, but so it goes. It's really kind of silly too, but I'm weird about things matching, aesthetics, and that whole nine yards.

Anyway. I have a Billet Mega Arms SBU Upper. It's Megas slick-side billet upper.

Unfortunately, the channel for the bolt catch is not like it is on Mega's standard billet upper. While it's deep, it's not nearly as wide as it should be. Annoying, right?

So, I find the bolt-catch I want, to match the Seekins mag-release button, buuut... it doesn't fit in the channel. Now of course the easy option is to get an alternate bolt-catch that fits. But like I said, I'm crazy, and kind of want this one. It really doesn't particularly make much sense, but I'm considering having the surface of the bolt catch, or the upper (thinking more the bolt catch than the upper) milled to fit.

Could anyone point me in a direction? A company/milling shop they've used in the past that does kick-butt work? I'm assuming it'll need to be re-parked after milling as well. This is all really kind of dumb, thinking about it.

I did some Google-Fu, but I can't seem to find any other nice looking, matching, billet, Bolt-Catch/Mag Release Button.

This one is kind of nice. but no matchy-matchy. Ideas?

I'd modify the cheaper part. That's just me though. It looks like you could do either with a dremmel or a belt sander on the catch release and a steady hand. If the power tool offends her majesty, get a fine tool makers file and take a little off at a time until doth desired catch release Dimension fittest, (sic)

I may give that a go, though... I'm awful at Dremel handy work. I botch anything touched by a Dremel. Even when polishing metals. (attempted to clean up some metal on an M44 Despite using oils and polishing stuff, no bueno.)

Unfortunately, no access to a belt-sander. I do have a file-set with some pretty tiny files. I'd much rather fudge with the catch than the upper.

Albeit it all, still hoping to find someone that does some milling work who can skinny up that release.

I would assume it would be too hard to file. Unhardened, it would wear rapidly.

One of the keys to DIY is knowing your own limitations (and ability to develop new skills). Definitely have someone reduce the part rather than open the channel in the receiver.

    Now that's funny right there.
