Perry County auditors sue sheriff over gun records Posted: Jun 20, 2014 4:40 PM EDT Updated: Jun 21, 2014 10:57 AM EDT By Karissa Shatzer - bio | email

Do county officials have a right to know who has purchased a permit to carry a concealed weapon? Auditors in Perry County want to see the list, but the sheriff says the information is confidential.

Sheriff Carl Nace says he will not hand over names and addresses because of Section 6111 in the Pennsylvania crimes code, which states carry permit information should be kept confidential from the public.

How will the auditors do their job without the information? They need to balance money in with names of people who got a license. Seems about right to me as long as the information goes no further.

How about number of licenses issued/rejected with the money received? Why the names?

Since all LTCFs are issued through a central PSP system and the price is fixed statewide, the auditors can simply ask PSP for the number of licenses issued in a specific time period and deduce the $$$ amount that need be accounted for.

This is what Sheriff Nace is saying. He has given the auditors a total count of licenses given and rejected, along with serial numbers for each, with no names or addresses attached. However the auditors want names and addresses. To my knowledge they have never made this demand before, and it is superfluous information they don't need. The sheriff is right about this, and I applaud him for standing tall. The people of Perry are overwhelmingly on his side too

There should be a call to audit the auditors. Why the fuck are they asking for information that is not needed. Sounds like phishing for a registry or perhaps to sell to a news agency to publish.

The Sheriff has insisted on not providing those original, complete records but on redacting name and address info for person's issued such permits. The Auditors cannot complete their statutory audit duties with partial records.
Deal with it, bitch. If you can't count your money that way, then there is something else going on here. I smell rotten mackeral.

Corrupt officials have always found the weak spot, to achieve their goals.

Congress has no power to compel the Washington Redskins to change their name (or to even hint that the NAACP or UNCF change their names to "something less offensive").

But they looked around, and found the Patent Office. By removing trademark protection for the name, they can indirectly achieve their Progressive goal.

Sounds like that's what's going on here. The names are protected by statute, so someone found a loophole.

The auditors have a need to match number of licenses issued with money declared by the Sheriff, but they have no need for names and addresses to do that. The names and addresses have been sought in other states EXCLUSIVELY for the purpose of shaming or outing gun owners.

The Left is composed of sneaky pricks who lie, cheat, and send innocents to their deaths for the benefit of The Cause. They use dead children the way your car uses gasoline. They are as shameless as Goebbels, and with pretty much the same goals.
