AR 15 build question
I am starting my first AR build, debating on 5.56 or 300AAC, more then likely going with 5.56. but my question is what low profile gas block do you guys suggest, i have seen price ranges from $22-$100+, i really dont want to spend $100 but i don't to get anything low end that will end up giving me trouble because if i go with a 5.56 build its going to be a semi-budget build.
thanks for any suggestions or info

Re: AR 15 build question
I just used this for my last build. For the price, it is an awesome piece.

Re: AR 15 build question
they're all going to accomplish the same thing and most are hidden under rail section anyway...just make sure you get the right OD size
I personally prefer builds with a A2 front grinded down to fit the rail over, they were nade for that particular gun and probably lined up the best...when dealing with aftermarket gas blocks i see this being peoples biggest issue or concern it not lining up exactly the same as factory setup..
Now if you're just buying a barrel, use some feeler guages to get it correctly placed.

Re: AR 15 build question
I would recommend going with the 5.56.
They are out of stock now but you find them other places. Spend the money on the Geissele and pin the sucker fast. You will get longer life out of the Nitrided version but the carbon will last a long time also.

Re: AR 15 build question
You will find a larger source of 5.56 barrels than you will 300 BO. Ammo in 5.56 is also more plentiful. But 300 BO does have decent aftermarket support though.
I know this is your first build, but if this is your first AR period, then go 5.56. If you already have a 5.56 AR15, then go 300 BO or 5.56 if you want to be able to stock up on the same ammo.
Of the 2 ARs I have, plus the 2 stripped lowers that I am waiting to decide what to build, I have not been set on 300 BO since I hate to add another caliber to my collection to need to keep a decent stock of ammo.
Building a .22LR is also another option.
I run a Rainier Arms extended gas block since I put it on a previously pinned gas block barrel (to hide the scars from the pinning) and a SLR Rifleworks DA7 adjustable gas block on my LR308.

Buy the BCM. They all should work but BCM is a well known company with good CS. Its $44 so its not that bad.
