.22lr Suppressor Cleaning
How often do you clean your .22 can? And what are you using to clean it?
I have a HunterTown Arms Guardian .22 with aluminum baffles. I'll be upgrading to the kestrel core at some point."Confiscating is not stealing! I warned him!" -Valentin16

Re: .22lr Suppressor Cleaning
i have over 2000 rounds thru one of my sparrows. i gotta clean it, but i just have not yet.
most guys DIP them in a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and vinegar. after the DIP eats away the lead, you are left with lead acetate. this is why i haven't DIPed mine yet. i'm not sure what i will do with the lead acetate. i'm not gonna be that guy that dumps it in the storm drain or makes it the land fills problem.
you CANNOT do that with aluminum. the DIP will eat away at that as well. some guys have even put them in a tumbler with SS media, but you can only do that a few times before the SS chews away at the aluminum.
is the kestrel baffle stack SS? if so, upgrade sooner than later.

Re: .22lr Suppressor Cleaning
Let the flaming begin, but I spoke with Huntertown Arms about cleaning their Guardian aluminum cans in my sonic cleaner using Dawn dishwasher liquid and they said, "No problem, our aluminum Guardian cans can handle it, both the tube and the baffles." I have been cleaning all my Guardian cans in the sonic cleaner for about a year now without issues.
I only clean ours about once a month, I first soak them in diesel fuel over night to loosen up the crud, then sonic clean them for three 4-minute cycles with the heater turned on, and then give them a quick rub with 0000 steel wool and done.Washington County Machine Guns & Tactical Range -- CMP Affiliated Club -- FFL 07 / FFL 10 / FEL 20 / SOT 02 / ITAR

Re: .22lr Suppressor Cleaning
I meant no alumnium provided your not using the harsher chemicals like hornady cass cleaner, the parts cleaner should work since its not as harsh as the brass cleaner
and the dish soap is harmless to the alum...its the harsher chems why they suggest not using sonic clean with the alumn parts...
