Open Carry Counter Rally For Gun Rights
Join us in countering the gun rights haters' "Walk & Rally for Universal Background Checks on Gun Sales" (http://delcounited.net/2014/05/15/wa...-on-gun-sales/). They want to "...demonstrate deep and broad support in Delaware County for universal backgrounds checks on gun sales...". We're going to show them that there is deeper and broader support for liberty. We're not going to allow them to implement more ineffective measures that are only incremental steps toward disarming us completely.
We'll start at 1pm rallying and waving signs and flags at the intersection of Providence Rd and Baltimore Pike in Media, PA. At 1:45 we'll move 1 block down the road to rally across the street from the Providence Friends Meeting House (http://www.providencemeeting.org/). Their walkers are scheduled to arrive there at 2pm and their rally begins at 2:30.

Re: Open Carry Counter Rally For Gun Rights
Sure, the rest of the description reads:
For safety all hand guns are to be carried securely holstered. All long guns and shot guns are to be carried slung over the shoulder with barrels pointed straight up or down at the ground.
Please bring signs supporting gun rights to wave.
Invite all of your friends!

Given that the gun rights haters may become angry at our presence and try to provoke us (as they did in this video shot back in March http://youtu.be/WC6BDaxVurU ) I ask that all participants agree to the following these guidelines:
3. We will not use or carry alcohol or illegal drugs.
4. We will not run or make threatening motions.
5. We will not insult, swear or attack others.
6. We will protect those who oppose or disagree with us from insult or attack.
7. We will not assault, verbally or physically, those who oppose or disagree with us

Re: Open Carry Counter Rally For Gun Rights
Hey, when did this become an "open carry" demonstration????
The press will be there and they are waiting with baited breath to get shots of gun crazies toting guns in public.
The general public who have no clue won't see anything but potential terrorists.
Flags and banners will state our position but it looks like all thet you guys want to do is an "IN YOUR FACE" kind of situation.
Haven't you folks learned anything.
It's PERCEPTION that fuels the fire.
Just because you have a right doesn't meant you MUST do it.
I smell a publicity disaster in the making.

Re: Open Carry Counter Rally For Gun Rights
I guess the question is who is willing to show up to help against the Communists trying to kill the constitution? If it's the open carry crowd then so be it. By the way you don't have to be armed or can CC.
So many people complain when rights are whittled away but not many are willing to take a couple of hours to stand in a crowd and be counted.

Re: Open Carry Counter Rally For Gun Rights
You don't get how publicity works. Just stop.
We need the media to see as many of us open carrying as possible. Whether the person looks like an off duty cop, a businessman, a redneck, a biker, a gamer or even, god forbid, a homeboy, it dosen't matter. Seeing people OC normalizes it.
Ask the gay community about the merits of hiding in the closet versus public exercise of rights. Sure, when a super weirdo gay person takes the spotlight, it does not paint them in the best light, but it still helps to normalize them. The weirdo brings attention to the fact that there are a lot of other people doing the same thing that are not weirdos.
Gun owners need to stick together and actively support, and exercise, our right. The 'ideal image' gun owners need to support the activity, not the image.
