Talking Allegheny County CCW - WOW!

I got my renewal notice that my CCW needed renewal before 8/7/2014. I completed the renewal application and mailed (USPS) on 6/9/2014. Today is Saturday, 6/14/2014 and I went out to get the mail this morning and what was in it - my approval dated 6/12/2014. All I can say is WOW! I'll be heading into downtown Pittsburgh this week to pick it up. I'm really looking forward to the experience of paying $20 for a half hour of parking! Again, WOW!

Go down in the middle of a weekday. Have someone drop you off, circle the courthouse 2-3 times, and you're done. It will save you quite a bit of time.

Congrats! The process is quite painless

BUT! Make sure you're renewing your LTCF - we don't have "CCW" in PA. ;-)

Take the T, it's far more relaxing and if you're lucky some jail guard will yell at you for looking at him.

Just renewed mine for the first time in Washington county (prior renewals were in Allegheny). One stop, pay, fill out the form, pay the lady, take a picture. Done. A few days later, they send the license to you. Painless. But I remember when Allegheny county them on the spot. In and out with your permit in 30 min. That was nice....

You can park in the North Shore lots much cheaper and take the T over.

I parked a Macy's lot and walked over. My daughter went with me and we walked around Picksburgh and looked at the architecture and new construction and I told her about all the cool stores that used to be downtown. Then we went to Market Square for lunch. Parking was only $11.

The lot by Macy's is about the best you can get unless you want to pay only $5 and park by the Strip and walk the mile or so the the courthouse. On a nice day it is a good walk.
