Default Has America lost its mind?

If you are in the over 50 crowd this article might just hit home with you.
Our rights our our nation has changed so much in 30+ years that it is hard to
recognize. Our 2nd Amendment rights and several others are under attack.
We cannot go back but we can make a stand.

Back in 1800 it would take months for news to travel from Cali to New York.
Back in 1900 It would take weeks.
Back in 1950 it would take days.
Back in 2000 news started to travel in seconds.

I am not sure if the rate of news propagation affects how people act or if they have always been nuts and we just hear about it faster.

True, but that news was still not propagated anywhere as fast as it is today. Even if the news came in this second from Cali to New York it could take weeks or months for it to hit the little towns.

The invention of the tv and radio helped to speed this up. But the internet really changed things.

For example growing up this latest shooting might be a blip in today's paper. Then you may never see anything about it ever again.

Tru. But the same also applies to the instant fact check.

Unfortunately it is a natural progression to want more from government.
We elect representatives based on promises of pork and safety not freedom. We do nothing to recall ineffective representatives and reward their mediocrity.

The author (the OP??) makes no mention of the police state created by the war on drugs or post 9/11 legislation. Or the never ending war cycle.

I suspect the author is just fine with constitutional infringements that he doesn't view as effecting him.

Just think of how much more we would hear about without the #$%^&* advertisements.

I wonder if every generation doesn't think that the country is lost. Somehow she holds on.

It may be holding on but when politicians and social experiments gone wrong slowly peel fingers away it can't hold on forever. Between that and the occasional recovery which seems to elude us these days most would be right if they said the toilet has flushed and we are circling the bowl.
