I store all my primers & powders in a couple 40mm grenade ammo cans in my basement. I do keep a dehumidifier running, because it tends to be damp down there.

Unless your primers got wet, you should be OK. The only real way to find out is to load up a small sample batch & shoot them.

Thanks all, I wish I had found them six months ago. I only started to get set up because I was seeing components back in the stores and online.

A friend of mine gave me some old primers of different makes and sizes from the 80's. He had them stored in a desk drawer. Not one failed to fire.

They may be dangerous. Send them to me for proper disposal.

    Seriously though....
Take a couple and prime some brass. Put the primed brass (JUST THE PRIMER) in your gun and pull the trigger. If they go bang, you're good to go.

    BEWARE!!!
Primers are quite loud all by themselves. They will also shoot sparks out of the front of your gun. If indoors, be sure to wear hearing protection and either point in a 100% safe direction or shoot into a damp (with water) rag. If you're in the basement, warn the Mrs. so she doesn't freak out thinking you just offed yourself or shot the washing machine.

I used to use primed brass to scare the grackles out of the trees when we lived in town. It was pretty effective.
