Inherited a couple of guns. All odd-balls.
Down here in sunny Florida helping grandma out with some work around the house when she tells me about a few guns in the closet that grandpa left. She tells me to go take a look at them.
Preface: Grandpa Juice was an ex hugarian revolution fighter. Who absolutely hate hate hated Russians. He fought against them as a teenager in Budapest. Eventually moving to a vineyard which is now my grandmothers summerhouse.
At first glance, there is a universal M1 carbine with no mag and a nice layer of grime.
A tube fed Sears 20 gauge bolt action.
A box fed Stevens .410 bolt action.
And a break open lever action .410 Stevens.
Finally a SM made in Germany little SNS gun. Worth about $75 but in box, with papers, and original box of ammo.
I'll add more pics when I get a chance. Didn't wan to upset gram and drool over the new heirlooms.Last edited by Zet70; May 24th, 2014 at 12:33 PM.

Re: Inherited a couple of guns. All odd-balls.
These were all from back when there were many more firearms producers.
I personally think they are all really nice.
It is neat to have a wide variety and since you did not have to shell out any of money for this collection it is really nice.
Besides these were the choices of your Grandpa.
That alone makes them worth a lot.
My recommendation is hold each one in your hands and look them over carefully to enjoy older craftsmanship.
No, they may not have a lot of monetary value, but the sentimental value is at the top of the scale.
Give Grandma a hug and thank her.
Maybe she might even have some stories about some of them.
And if she does, have a pen or pencil ready to write the stories down so they are not lost.
Each person's life is a beautiful library that once gone can never be heard from again.
Be safe and enjoy!
God bless!!

Re: Inherited a couple of guns. All odd-balls.
I'll second all of that. My grandfather's guns ended up with a cousin that faked great interest in them. As soon as he got them they were sold. I'd offered to buy them from him, but he wouldn't sell them to me. When I later found out about it, and what he'd gotten for them, I confronted him about it. His response was that he thought my offer was low and he thought they would be worth more. I'd only offered as much as I did because they were worth more to me because they were Pap's guns. He ended up getting several hundred less than my offer. Because of his greed we both lost out.

Nothing odd about free guns.
Especially old guns with a family history.
Hold on to them and enjoy them.FUCK BIDEN

Sounds like a nice collection. I hope you keep them and enjoy them. My dad left behind an Iver Johnson .22 revolver (model 55 I think). It's in good condition and I may try to shoot it after I get it professionally cleaned and checked out. I believe it was made in 1955.

When I was a child my dad bought me a iver Johnson arms and cycle work 12 gauge single shot shotgun. He paid about 70 or 80 dollars for it. As my collection got bigger I need an appraisal for my insurance company. That was the last gun I gave to the appraiser and said, oh I know this isn't worth much. He looked it up and was worth 4 times what my dad paid for it. Just because it odds ball stuff it still could be worth something. I was told its because it Americana.
I think you got a nice collection, and if anything its faimily history.NRA Endowment Member, N-SSA #9526v

Nothing odd about any of those guns especially with the M-1 carbine. Old school guns are fun. Shoot and cherish them for what they are. I would have loved to have had some of the guns my Grandfathers and uncles owned is for no other reason, the memories.

The break open lever action .410 Stevens looks the same as my Ithaca M66.
