Is this accurate shooting?
I was all over the paper with my 1911 Combat Commander (my avatar actually) for a long time. I have gotten a lot better but not sure how much better I can get. Right now I can reliably put rounds in a 6" circle from 10 yds. I have done 5" but not consistently. Have I reached the limits of my gun or is there still room?

Re: Is this accurate shooting?
From that distance I believe a little better can be sought. That is also very combat accurate.

Not sure if trolling/spinning off from the hi-point thread or serious...
I'm almost afraid to give a real answer... but the answer is that the problem lies with you and not your gun

Unless the gun is out of spec, I think there's certainly room to improve.
Your 6 inch groups at 10 yards isn't bad, imo. Clint Smith of Thunder Ranch has stated that 8'' groups at 15 yards is perfectly acceptable for defensive shooting.
Here's a recent group I got with my Smith & Wesson snub-nose 649 at 8 yards. The ragged hole is 5 rounds, double action shooting.
It takes A LOT of concentration, good breathing, and patience.

Mechanically, that gun should be able to do much better than that. Have you tried to bench rest the gun at all? Also, take a class if you haven't. You pick up a lot of useful information when someone is watching you shoot and giving you good corrective instruction. Most of all.. have fun, and don't get frustrated.

Re: Is this accurate shooting?
don't blaim the gun you should do better then that.
i got my brother one of the argentine colts when they came in. fitted a new barrel bushing and barrel. replaced the springs. he was complaining it did not shoot. i took it to the range . put up a paper plate at 25yd. right handed off hand put all 7 in the plate. did the same thing left handed. i then asked him what was wrong with the gun. he said the owner needed to learn to shoot it.
slow down on the shooting. slow hits have more effect then fast misses every time.

Group not bad if point-shooting in combat mode. Would probably improve it using a Hi Point though.

Try shooting at farther distances; it forces you to become more accurate and then when you come back to 10 yards you'll see smaller groups.
Also, try loading only 3-5 rounds per mag. Each individual shot should be given as much attention as the last. I find this gets harder with longer round counts.

Re: Is this accurate shooting?
I thought I made that clear. It has to be me because of the improvements over time. I use the iron sights and focusing is a challenge. Since using my reading glasses I have been doing a lot better. I am tempted to go to the optometrists and ask him to make me glasses designed just for shooting. I don't know if there are such things.
