No firearms @ port providence (schuylkill trail) UPDATE 6/3/14
I was at port providence trail head today in phoenixville. It's montgomery county. Its part of the schuylkill trail next to reynolds dog park. I saw this sign saying no firearms. I'm going to have to send some emails to the dept of parks and heritage services.

Re: No firearms @ port providence (schuylkill trail)
There is a sign at the Richard Etchberger section of the schuylkill river in hamburg that is almost the exact same. I couldn't find out who actually owned the trail. I'm planning on sending an email as well.

The Schuylkill River Trail is owned, managed and developed by a coalition of different organizations along its entire length.

Re: No firearms @ port providence (schuylkill trail)
I think the rule has something to do with retarded montco park regulations, that still prohibit firearms. We a have thread about it somewhere here.

Re: No firearms @ port providence (schuylkill trail)
If the trail is owned by these different organizations then preemption doesn't apply right? Unless they are state agencies. I haven't had a chance to look into it yet so I don't know if they are or not.

Looks like Montgomery County Division of Parks, Trails, and Historic Sites maintains that section. I wonder how long the sign has been there. Probably a few years.
