Default Mercer Co. no longer issues non-resident CCW

They will accept renewals if issued in Mercer County.

Mercer Co. sheriffs office is a pain to deal with anyway. I always go to Venango to get mine done. Much easier and faster.

If you live in Mercer (according to your profile) you are required to renew there. How can you renew in Venango?

Any PA resident can go to any Sheriffs dept in the state and file for a PA carry permit. Franklin is actually a closer drive than Mercer is for me anyway - yet another reason why I get my permit renewed there.

Incorrect. A PA resident MUST go to the sheriff of the county in which he/she lives.

A non-PA resident may go to any sheriff.

Mercer residents need to remind this sheriff that he doesn't get to choose whether or not to accept non-resident applications. He HAS to accept them.

Where is this info from, and why would Venango sheriffs office allow me to renew my permit if it wasnt legal to do so in a county other than Mercer? I'm pretty sure the sheriff knows the law and wouldnt let me break it standing in the courthouse.

Then how have myself and my wife gone through this process in Venango county on more than one occasion? The sheriff makes his own law there?
