    Default Defensive Pistol I

    This course is two days long (4/26/14 and 5/3/14) and is designed to take someone with basic pistol handling skills and teach them the knowledge/skills needed to successfully use a pistol in a defensive situation. This class is unlike other defensive pistol classes in that you will learn not only the basics of the skills, but also advanced applications of these skills. This course is conducted mostly on the range with some time in the classroom on the first day. This course is a requirement for Defensive Pistol II.

    Winning Mindset
    Physiology of Stress
    Equipment Considerations
    Combat Marksmanship
    Training Considerations

    Range Skills Include:
    Basic and Advanced Combat Marksmanship
    Isosceles Stance
    Kneeling Stance
    One Handed Marksmanship
    Reload Drills
    Basic and Advanced Failure Drills
    Shooting from Retention
    Shooting While Moving
    Basic and Advanced Drawing Techniques
    Target Identification
    Shooting Under Stress
    Practical Scenarios

    Prerequisites:

    At least 21 years old
    The ability to shoot 10/10 rounds on a vertical 8 1/2" X 11" paper at 7 yards.*
    Documentation of clean criminal history (PA. State Police background check, letter from a local Police Chief, valid PA LTCF, etc.)

    Required Equipment:
    Pistol
    2+ magazines/speed loaders
    Range-appropriate holster
    Pouch for spare magazines
    Sturdy belt that can support the weight of a pistol and spare magazines
    250+ rounds of ammunition
    10 rounds of dummy ammunition
    Hat, Eye and Ear protection
    Documentation of Clear Criminal History


    Cost: $200
    Deposit: $100

    Registration Deadline: 4/19/14

    *If a person is interested in attending this course but cannot meet the entry marksmanship requirement, contact us and, at the discretion of the owner and/or instructors, we will help you reach this level prior to the start of the course.

    The class is about 8 hours each day, depending on the size of the class and how fast the students pick up the material.

    I took the class, it was well worth it. Learned new skills, and realized the limitations of my equipment. Very helpful overall.
