FIREARMS, YOU AND THE LAW

Class

PURPOSE

To review the laws governing the use of force and deadly force for personal and property protection. This class contains a comprehensive curriculum that has been specifically designed to cover PA state laws and every possible scenario where Force and Deadly Force can be used to protect your home, your land, when on public and private property. And, how to legally and safely approach an intruder and confront a subject in dangerous situations.

The 2nd Amendment guarantees your right to keep and bear Arms. Pennsylvania Does Not Require training to obtain a concealed carry permit or purchase a firearm. But, you are liable to the fullest extent of the law for the misuse of a firearm.

COURSE agenda

1. Introduction

2. Who uses the Crime Codes and the function of the District Attorney as a prosecutor. Also, we will discuss Criminal Prosecution and Civil law suit. We will discuss the OJ Simpson trial and Bernhard Goetz trial.

3. I will point out and define Gray areas in laws and discuss the Federal and State Constitution

Definition of Terms and Offences

4. Bodily Injury, Deadly Weapon, Serious Bodily Injury, Dwelling, Occupied and Separately Secured Structure

5. The Big four attempted offences to remember and how the word “Immediate” is defined in the Crime Codes
a) Death b) Serious bodily injury c) Kidnapping d) Sexual Intercourse compelled by force or threat

6. Burglary

7. Robbery

8. Trespass, Defiant Trespass, Criminal Trespass

9. Voluntary Manslaughter

10. Involuntary Manslaughter

11. Clarification of the Pennsylvania State Constitution Open Carry law and Define the term “Castle Doctrine”

12. Uniform Firearms Act: Legal parameters for carrying a concealed firearm
a. Where not to carry a firearm in Pennsylvania
b. Lawful method of transporting a firearm within the state and intrastate

We will discuss Calibers and Ammunition recommended for personal protection and ammunition that is Prohibited

The end of the class will be designated for questions. Students are incurraged to make a list of questions before class.
All questions will be answered.

About the instructor

A former Police Officer and police department firearms instructor with a college degree in Criminal Justice. Holds expert status with .38 Special, 45 ACP and M16 rifle. Trained in PA Act 235 and PA equivalent ACT 120. Thirty years of teaching Pennsylvania State Criminal Law. Retired (after 15 years) NRA Certified Instructor in Pistol, Personal Protection, Women with Firearms, Refuse to be a Victim, Home Firearms Safety and Range Safety Officer.
Pistol instructor for fund raising events at gun clubs & Youth field day events. Guest speaker at private and civic organizations (Women Against Rape, etc.), 22 rifle instruction for the Boy Scouts of America and Private Pistol Instructions.

Recruitment
Policy: If a person is registered to attend this class and recruits another person to attend, $20 will be refunded to you for each person you recruit. Refunds will be mailed to you within two weeks after class.

Cancellations Registration fee Is Not Refundable

Students should bring your lunch (library has refrigerator) or you can purchase food from a local store across the library parking lot. One half hour will be designated for lunch.

Law packets will be supplied. Students should bring pencils, note pad and highlighter

Complimentary donuts, bagels, cream cheese and bottled water will be served. You may bring coffee or soft drinks to class.
