Violated in Wilkes-Barre for open-carry!
Hello everyone! I'm new to this board but have been posting over at opencarry.org for a little while now. I wanted to share with you what happened to me in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.
I was out for a walk after dinner (open-carrying).
Wilkes-Barre City police stopped me because someone called 911.
My firearm was taken from me.
I was cursed at and insulted.
Then I was told that open-carry is not allowed.
That only police officers can open-carry.
And that Pennsylvania doesn't recognize any out-of-state concealed carry permits.
They gave no legal reason for the seizure of my firearm.
And if I wanted my firearm back I would have to go down to police HQ on Monday with a lawyer.
I have contacted an attorney and am following his instructions.
Your thoughts, comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
A.J.

Re: Violated in Wilkes-Barre for open-carry!
WB City PD just stepped on the tigers tail.
I've spoken with the OP at legnth via phone and will say without pause that the incident is MUCH worse than he describes.
WBPD seized the OP's firearm and refused to return it. Without PC or legal reason.
They tell the guy only LEO can OC, but then they don't cite him? Hmmm. Then they steal his firearm.
These LEO's are acting more like gangs playing a game of street turf. "You can't OC on my street. I'm taking your gun."
WoW
Oopsie. I think WB city needs a new baby-siter. This one is mis-behaving.Last edited by Pa. Patriot; June 10th, 2008 at 01:55 AM.
