    Default Ruger Super BlackHawk

Wasn't looking for another six shooter - but the price was right. Anyone have one? How do they shoot. I imagine 44 mag is pretty snappy out of it. Looking forward to getting to the range

Don't own one, but have shot them. 44 Special much easier to shoot accurately, 44 Magnum good for killing bears!

Yep, I own one. The big SBH handles the .44 Magnum quite well. Not as much as the SRH, but I don't find the .44 Magnum to be snappy out of either. Maybe it's because I shoot a lot of .44 Magnum in prep for hunting season.

Nice, thanks! I shoot 44 magnum out of my snub nose so this 7 1/2 " should be a piece of cake - lol.

The first .44 mag I owned was a SBH built in '94. I bought it from a guy who was having financial problems in '96, at his ridiculous asking price. I still feel guilty for it, so I don't even want to say what the price was. At any rate, I loved everything about it other than having to cock the hammer every time I shot it. I remember shooting soda cans in the berm where I go (55 yds out) and hitting them being a cinch, even with the sights that came on it. Muzzle flip is a little more than a RH or SRH, but no where near the flip of a lightweight, short barreled .44. It was very controllable and almost a pleasure to shoot. You could get quite a bit of .44 mag ammo back then for a decent price, but now, you gotta either have a Donald Trump lotto bank roll or hand load to afford to shoot the stuff. I ended up trading it for the RH my son now owns (that he's trying to sell back to me to get a Glock 23).

It is a fun revolver that you will enjoy. Get a few rounds of the +P BB and really shake the rafters at your local range.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

I've had mine for about ten years. Only problem I had was the wood grips would slide in my hand under recoil with heavy loads. Hogue monogrip fixed that and now it is a pleasure to shoot. Very accurate and controlable.

I had a set of Hogue's on my SBH last year, then went back to the wood for a while.

Man, seeing that pistol sitting there like that, with THOSE grips, kinda makes me wish I had it back. I've never shot a SBH with Hogue finger grips. They're great on the RH, so it must be awesome to have a western style revolver with 'gun fighter' grips. Cool....

The wood grips are so the plow-handle slides in your hand, reducing felt recoil.

    Thank Sam Colt.
