    Default M+P Pro 9mm Catastrophic Failure

    One of the guys picked up The M&P Pro Series in 9mm From Smith & Wesson. It destroyed itself within 2 magazines due to a catastrophic failure.

    I have 60k+ rounds through my pro. I also had a foolish reloading session that resulted in 5grains of tight group under 124 grain plated bullets that resulted in a fairly snappy recoil... 4 grains made power factor. The pro is not a poorly designed firearm by any means.

    Well my 40c has about 3k rounds dpwn the tube. Some are factory wwb, some American eagle and federal, about 1k my own reloads. the 40c runs perfect now issues what so ever. The start of this winter I did a full tear down and inspected it for any signs of unusual wear/damage. All I found was very mild finish wear from the holster .

    My 40c has been great, heck I had a little new gun withdrawal so I bought a full size as well..

    As for the 9mm pro they have in the video, too much unanswered questions. Also big factor of reloads from a outside source. Hell didn't Winchester recall some factory loads for charge issues a year or two ago.
    Unfortunately no matter what brand weapon, the ammo is usually has a lot to do with the problem. Over charges are very common, as well as no charge/squibs. Only true way would be to put each round on a scale before loading mag. then you could narrow it down some, But still some powders burn hotter and faster than others causing pressure issues.

    OOPS!
    Mass produced product. Something's going to slip thru the QC sooner or later. Glad your not seriously hurt. Scary experience I'm sure.
    Don't let that turn you off the M&P, they are very good guns. {when they don't blow up!}

    Let a firecracker go off on your hand and you'll get burnt. Let a stick of dynamite go off in your hand and you'll lose a hand. He didn't say what factory ammo it was, so let's just call it bad ammo. Obviously, anyone that knows guns knows the M&P isn't a piece of junk, but every gun has its limits...even Hi Points.

    BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

    Im betting bad ammo, could have been an OOB though. at 7min 50 sec he states that "its very unlikely it was due to ammunition" and the ammo came from "Ammunition was purchased from (201401) Fitz Munition Works." so IMO he got a bad reload and it should not be covered by warrenty

    If you read the comments on the video you will see he was not using factory ammo. He was shooting crappy reloads from Fitz Munitions or something. Possibly an under loaded round that was set off all at once by the primer charge sparking all the powder in the case
