    Default Liberator .45ACP Replica

Saw a really cool Liberator .45ACP replica. Box was done very nicely along with accessories. Reproduction quality was quite nice on the pistol.

From what the dealer said, it was capable of being fired, but only after you alter it. The manufacturer did not complete the hole on the firing pin block but was started so it could be completed. However, for $595, it was a little steep for a collector's item. Overall, very cool, though!

I forgot how much I missed the slang from the 70's and 80's: "Bite me, dig?"

$600 is probably an OK price on one, the repro's were expensive, but I wouldn't pay that much either.

IIRC you don't need a ffl to purchase. The breech plate needs to be drilled for the hammer/striker to be able to hit the primer. It is not really meant to be shot.(just like the originals Liberator) It is a neat gun because of the history. But as a gun it sucks. Unless you want to use it to kill a Nazi guard in '42 and take his Stg-44.

It's interesting that someone made some reproductions of a piece of WW2 history that otherwise people would never be able to own. I saw the Hickok45 video a while ago, which is where it first came to my attention. It's probably something I would never buy, but again interesting that it is at least out there.
