    Default Range time

So the place that I work for has decided to try producing some items with
ballistic materials. The stuff they are using is the approximate thickness of a
dollar bill. I was asked if I would be interested in shooting at some of it. I
have not been to the range in a while so I said why should I. “They wanted me to
do it on my time” After some negotiation, it was decided that I would do it on
    company time.

They wanted me to bring a .223, 9mm, .22. I also brought my new glock 30,
    .45cal.
I was shooting at a ballistic pack”40 sheets” Hang from a chain.

They had me shoot the 223 . No problems round goes clean through. Then they had
me shoot the .22. It goes through about 3 sheets. Interestingly the bullet
    flattened.

Then it came to the 9mm. First shoot tears they pack off of the chain. Distort
most of the links. Bullet stops about half way through. We retrieved the bullet
afterwards. The pad not only stopped the round but mushroomed it as well.
After some experimentation we were able to stop the bullet at 20 sheets.

Then I wanted to play with the glock 30. The round would also tear the pack from
the chain. The bullet would stop after 3 sheets. The round would also mushroom.

I was very impressed with this ballistic material. It stops a 9mm or a .45, but
you can shred it with a knife.

I really like the glock 30 so far. It looks like it may be my new carry piece.

The one in the pic is a left over from a previous lot. The stuff we were playing with was a new type that just came out. it is like paper. I did not think it would work as well as it did.

How bout that. Instead of letting students defend themselves they are giving them notebooks that they can use to shield themselves. What will they think of next!
