Boone's beer fest 2014 Daniel Boone homestead
I was looking at the website for this and it says no guns. The homestead is owned by the PA historical and museum society. Is this legal? I would think its state owned and state funded. Doesn't that make it public property?

Re: Boone's beer fest 2014 Daniel Boone homestead
I did find this
http://luzernehistory.org/?page_id=48
Various members of the Denison family owned the house after the Colonel’s death. In the 19th century, porches and several additions changed the character of the home. The original appearance of the house was revealed through research and archeological investigations. The Bureau of Historic Sites and Properties of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission began restoration in 1976. The house has been owned by the Luzerne County Historical Society since 2010.
That is a clip from that page so it appears to be owned by Luzerne County Historical SocietyPeople always ask me why i never smile.I TELL THEM IT'S BECAUSE MY CORPSE IS STILL BREATHING AND THEY DON'T FUCKING GET IT!

"Luzerne County Historical Society"? Sounds like a private entity to me..

Re: Boone's beer fest 2014 Daniel Boone homestead
Daniel Boone homestead is in Berks County and is owned by the PA Historical and Museum Commission. Doesn't that mean it state owned? It's funded by state grants.

Re: Boone's beer fest 2014 Daniel Boone homestead
I thought I saw it somewhere last night that the PA historical and museum commission is a private company. I can't find that now. Looks to me to be a state property owned by the state. Maybe someone can clear this up.

Re: Boone's beer fest 2014 Daniel Boone homestead
On the bottom of the Daniel Boone Homestead's Homepage is the following text:
The Daniel Boone Homestead is owned by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission
Tom Corbett, Governor | James M. Vaughan, Executive Director
From the above information, it appears the Daniel Boone Homestead is OWNED by the PHMC; it's not private property that's managed by the PHMC. As such, I would think that they can be held to Constitutional standards.
They might TRY to enforce a "no guns" rule via police or private security, but they'd be wrong to do so. In the end, if they enforce such a rule, the only recourse one has is to "comply but not consent", and then file a complaint and/or address it via the courts. To do anything else will likely result in an altercation which might mean citations/arrests or worse."Political Correctness is just tyranny with manners"
