Cheaper Than Dirt advertising
I just noticed a CTD advertisement on my screen and I was shocked. There are a lot of members that have boycotted the website because of their ignorant price gouging during and after the panic. My suggestion is that before you approve of a company advertising you should read any posts and opinions the members have about them. You wont find very many good ones about CTD. I know they pay the bills but is it worth supporting a company that dosen't give a shit about the average shooter which is what most of your members are.

Re: Cheaper Than Dirt advertising
I will preface my comment by saying I am not part of the management of this forum.
I do not believe the owners of this forum deal directly with the choice of which advertisers are placed on the forum. This is usually left to an outside "contractor" who assign ads according to the use of meta tag matches with searches of words posted in threads. If the words members are talking about in a thread match words set as tags by an advertiser...BINGO...ad appears on site. The interesting thing about such advertisers is they are charged by the click through that come from a specific site where the click comes from. Therefore, the best thing you can probably do is "click" on the ad, go to the sire, click around there a little, and buy nothing. Your click through increases the cost of their ad on the site. Yet they recoup nothing because there is not purchase associated with the click.
Eventually, if an advertiser watches closely, they will notice a number of "hits" from a specific sight yet little or not purchases from those click throughs. They'll then ask the "contractor" who places the ads to exclude the site from which they get lots of clicks but few sales.
I could be totally off base with this. If there is anyone out there to comment on my post, I welcome it.Last edited by Democrat Gun Owner; March 13th, 2014 at 01:40 PM. Reason: Corrected typo

Maybe we should all click on every ad they have here so they think it's actually paying off.

PAFOA doesn't get to choose what is advertized. That spot on the page is sold/leased to an ad agency(I'm assuming Google or Amazon). They run what they want.
However, newer coding in webpages, your browsing history, and cookies will also determine what you see. If you do a lot of searches for mattresses, you will start seeing mattress ads at several sites.
I did some searches for grand world cruises a few days ago in Google and Yahoo - now I see banners for cruises at facebook, other gun related forums, and other social sites.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

Well that explains this ad.
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.
