i'd assume its probably a reproduction. i highly doubt any one who made them "back in the day" would have labeled them "Philadelphia Derringer". That being said its probably not worth much. Kits for this style pistol are about $195 on Dixie gun works website.

It is not labeled Philadelphia Derringer. There are no lables on it. Just spanish stuff and an upside down serial number.

Just a derringer repro. A little nicer then the average, it has checkering. Can't hit the side of a barn from the inside with them. Real ones are not all numbered up and come from right here not Spain. You should try shooting it, it's fun.

I like $40. for that gun. It's a fair price. Clean black powder with soap and water, if you get around to shooting it. Then dry and oil. It's a real close up gun, more so then a 38 snubbie.

$40 is a good deal for this gun. shooting it is complicated. you need some 3F black powder, percussion caps, round balls of the correct diameter, and "patching" material. you can find all of this stuff in a cabelas or similar store, or a store that deals in muzzleloading supplies. then you need a cleaning kit and a screwdriver to remove the barrel from the stock for cleaning, which is done with hot soapy water. black powder is hygroscopic, and percussion caps contain corrosive salts, so you must clean after use or it will become a rust bucket.
