Between factory ammo, loaded rounds and supplies to load more, 15k is my floor. When I get below 20k, I am shopping for supplies so I can get back over 20k before I hit 15k.

You will run out of time, before you run out of ammo.

If you have so much it takes up any flat surface in the house and spills into other areas to where it is taking things over, you probably have overcooked it some.

That said you can never really have enough. If stored properly, it might lose some value but is never worthless and may even be worth more in the future. You can always sell off a lot of ammo if you are hard up for cash. I see guns and ammo as mainly for the utility and sporting value they provide, but also as part of a diversification of assets.

Not really. 15k is about a year worth of shooting for me.

Enough for me will be when I have trouble storing it all. Until then I slowly stock up. Buy a box or two every time I'm at a store that sells it.

Also, I just started reloading 9mm so that's helps me not have to dip into my factory loaded stash that I'm trying to accumulate.

Wink Re: how much ammo is "enough" to have?

IF you don't reload yer own, and why TF do you NOT? Here is a decent recommendation from some folks i trust:

    Semi-auto pistols: 9mm or .45 or .40, about 1000 rds of each

    22lr..2000 rds

5.56nato..if you depend on an AR15 for defense, about 4000rds of good solid 63gr

7.62x39..if yer defensive rifle is an AK clone..4000rds.

7.62x51....1000rds, but if yer defensive rifle IS that rifle, then 2000 rds

Shotgun shells..at least 500 in each ga you shoot, but 12 ga about 1000rds, especially some in 00 bk, 4-0 bk and slugs

You should reload. IF you ever find you have too MUCH ammo, 10-1 you'll be ablr to trade it/barter it for food, tools and gold/silver

Store it in GI ammo cans w some rice grains thrown in and keep it in a cool and dry place. I have fired lots of mil surp ammo from ww2 well-stored and have had zero probs.
