Default Best 1911 Sights for the Range?

Hey Guys, I have a Kimber Custom II with regular black sights.
Not doing me too much good at the range. What would you recommend
    for a sights.

I looked at the Kimber website, but is there anything better out there?

Get Dawson Precision Tactical rear black and add a fiber optic front from Dawson as well. If you are older then take out the rod that comes with the front sights add new rod that is longer and melt it so that the front bead is larger and fast to pick up . I prefer green fiber optic fronts. Sean at CDI is closer to you for an install or you can come up and visit me. Kimber sights are a pain to change will require some fitting.

I don't understand "range" sights. I'd put Novak tritium night sights on the pistol if it was mine. These have white outlines for day work. No reason they won't work on the range.

Direct replacements you can do yourself if Kimber is no longer using a hydraulic press to put them in, or just send your slide to Parkersburg and they'll put them in for a nominal extra charge. I just sent my Colt XSE slide and it took a week including USPS. Assuming your pistol is zeroed they'll fit the right height sights to preserve it.

They just won't pipe in as much light as a good fiber would in the day. You can also get a narrow front blade that isn't possible with a tritium sight. I also find it easier to use a plain black rear sight so there is no visual clutter to take my focus off the front sight where it needs to be.

But.....we're all different. If it works for you, it works!

I am also in the market for some sights for my 1911 government. I want something value priced. I like the white dot style but i do not want to mill my slide. Any suggestions?
