    Default 1911 .22TCM Slide Question

    Hello everyone,
I just recently purchased a Rock Island .22TCM 1911 with an additional 9mm barrel. In order to swap calibers you have to change out the extractor, recoil spring, and barrel. I was wondering if I could buy an additional 9mm slide to swap out just to have a quicker way the change calibers. I know it's not hard to change the extractor, but I want to be lazy. Anyways, I know that the pistol has double stack mags, but I'm not sure if there is any difference with the slide for a double stack vs. a single stack frame. I'm not a 1911 guy, but I love the design and wanted to expand from my CZ collection. Thanks

I just got one as well, I asked them about the extractor... they said if you plan on shooting alot of 9mm swap it out but if you only shoot a few mags its ok to just use the tcm extractor. for the price Id just order a few extractors (incase you wear one out) instead of a slide. Im going to see how the 9mm extractor works with the tcm and maybe just leave it in. just to check, the lighter spring is for the tcm?

Yes, you can do what you are asking.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

I tried the slide off my springfield on the rock island and the barrel would need fitted so would the ejector, sarco had slides for about 60 bucks if you wanted to play with fitting one. just dont expect it to be a drop on part.

Thanks for the info. I was looking for a drop in slide, but if fitting could be required then I might scrap the idea and just swap out the extractor as needed.

What are your thoughts on the 22tcm? How is the accuracy? Thinking about buying one. Thanks

I can't comment about it yet since I haven't shot it, but I plan to very soon.
I've heard very good things about the accuracy and the barrel and bushing fit is very tight. I will post a review when I can. I'm also excited about the bolt action that Armscor is putting into production in the same caliber.

Ive heard that too, but heres the email I recieved from them 3/7/2014

We recommend switching out extractors if you will be shooting more of the 9mm as the extractor tension on the TCM extractor is tuned for it’s specific caliber. Eventually shooting 9mm through the TCM extractor will change the tension and lead to feeding issues.

Without confirmation, I believe the latest were just shipped with 9mm extractors
