Smith 44 revolver identification help
I bought a used smith and Wesson .44mag revolver a few years back from a friend. I want to sell it but have no clue what model it is, how much to ask, or how to describe to condition(percent). I guess I'm asking if a knowledgable forum member could send me their email so when I get home Tom I can send a bunch of pics and they can help me identify it and possible give me a ballpark value. What I do know is that it is a 6 shot, .44mag, with the original finish. My email is Jeremyfredco@hotmail.com . Again per forum rules, I am only trying to I'd it and not sell it in this part of the forum. Thanks for the help.

Re: Smith 44 revolver identification help
I'm not an expert but you can try opening the cylinder and seeing if there's a model number next to the hinge.
Really old models don't have anything engraved there.

Re: Smith 44 revolver identification help
If you open the cylinder the model number should be stamped on the frame under the crane (for example, 29-2 or 629-3). A .44 mag is most likely some variation of the Model 29 or 629 -- but there's a lot of variations in those models. If you can post the pix here it will help with assessing condition.
