They are not banning posts related to guns, they are banning posts advertising illegal gun sales. no different than banning someone on PAFOA that placed a classified ad offering to sell a handgun without using an FFL.

Seems to me like a non-story, but the antigun group is tryng to turn it into a victory.

Just read this, doesn't seem too bad. At least they are being smart about it.

One of the articles states The Brady bunch condemned Facebook's decision, that's good enough for me.

It seems like the biggest thing Facebook will be doing is to monitor posts that advertise transfers of firearms without going through an FFL/NICS/PICS. I don't have a problem with that. No gun registries, no "high" capacity magazine bans; none of this "common sense gun laws" bullshit: cracking down on illegal sales and transfers to people who can't otherwise legally own firearms is using actual common sense.

So they will try to stop illegal gun activity and not allow under 18s to access "gun stuff"...is that really that bad?

If the what is becoming more irrelevant brady bunch is upset over facebook, they should see some of the firearm friendly and informative videos on youtube. Some of the firearm related channels and posts are amusing, over the top funny, and educational for anyone who wants information on certain models and variations of firearms from all time periods. These channels have been a source for additional firearm sales. Hitchcock, Armory Channel, just two that comes to mind as I am typing, have celebrity status in the firearm community that frequents youtube.

I am certain that there are many on this forum that are familiar with some of the well known channels in that medium.

As far as facebook is concerned, there isn't a gun company out there that does not have a fan page, even many stores including the beloved tanners distributes information on their page. Facebook has had their problems in the past having nothing to do with this issue. They certainly cannot afford to lose a large number of subscribers over the whims of enemies of firearm ownership.
