    Default Hi-Point Pistols

So I have been wondering. Why does it seem everyone wants to hate on HI-Point Handguns? They seem to be pretty accurate, reliable, durable, and a semi smooth trigger. Plus they are made in America.
I am not biased either way. I personally am a Glock lover. But what do ya'll think about Hi-point pistols and why do you like or dislike them .

they make great anchors and are also very sturdy if you have to prop your car up to change a tire or something

They are ugly and heavy. Yes, they are inexpensive and produce acceptable results when the trigger is pulled but they are still the equivalent of high school sex with the ugly girl (you never admit it and hope no one catches you).

I'm a Glock guy, but when I wanted a cheap sturdy handgun to keep in my tractor toolbox I picked up a used beat-up Hi-Point for $95 in .40 S&W. It's been bouncing around in that toolbox for a couple of years now and still shoots just fine.

From an online article: Some have criticized the physical appearance of the gun as unattractive and non-traditional. The design philosophy is similar to that of Glock, favoring a no-frills utilitarian design.

They'd make a good vehicle or workshop gun. But way too heavy for carry IMO. They are ugly as sin but if they work why not buy one if you can't afford another brand.

Very true. I think we can all agree they are too heavy and ugly.

Everbody loves to bash Hi-Point. Why?

    1. They are ugly (suggests low quality)
    2. They are inexpensive ("cheap." Again, suggests low quality)
    3. They are heavy (uncomfortable to carry)
    4. (BIGGEST REASON) The people bashing Hi-Point know NOTHING about them beyond "They're those cheap-ass, dangerous handguns that only the inner city kids use because they're cheap and easy to get!" that they heard from that guy on their block who must be a firearms expert because he is either a cop or a hunter who owns a 30-30 and a 12 gauge.

But yeah. Go ahead and bash a company that:

    1. Makes a firearm that is notoriously reliable and goes bang every time.
    2. Makes it inexpensive enough that even someone on a limited budget can afford a decent self-defense weapon.
    3. Further cuts down the price by not wasting money and resources on style.
    4. Makes their product right here in America for fair wages,
    5. And backs their weapons by just about the best warranty in the industry, not to mention top-notch customer service.

Would I carry a Hi-Point? Absolutely. Would I prefer to? No. But if that's what was available to me, I'd have no problem trusting its performance.
