Never heard of Lucy, except that elephant in Margate. There may be another or two in the area, but this one was known as Roscoe from everything I've read. He even has a FaceBook page.

Could be others but I think it is the same bird. Could be someone just told me they call him lucy because they just wanted to say something. Would not be the first time. I only found out about him a matter of a month or two before he died.

I thought there may be more of them around. I was hoping I could find somewhere close to try turkey hunting. Seeing him so close peeked my curiosity.
    Some people just plain suck.

Roscoe got around, from Drexel Hill to Lansdowne up and down Lansdowne Ave. He was around for a few years. Every now and then while listening to the scanner I'd hear the cops get a call about him creating a traffic jam. They wouldn't bother and and just tell the dispatcher, "Yea OK" tell them to call the game warden. I didn't know he had a name at all until he was killed. I've seen him a few times over the years, only recently got a couple photo's close and clear enough to see him.

Here are 6 or 7 bearded birds. My trail cam is set up to take 3 pics and a 20 sec video.

Turkeys.....oh man do we have turkeys! Springtime brings a turkey orgy right here in my own backyard. 100's of them. If you don't see a turkey while out and about then it's night. Stevie Wonder sees turkeys when he comes to northern Wisconsin.

I just signed up for an educational program run by the WI DNR and ( I forget the exact name) Wild Turkey Something Something. It's free, and you are supplied a tag. After a few hours of class time and shotgun patterning on day one, day two a mentor takes you out to hunt turkeys. I own a large enough property to use for the hunt and my neighbor has given permission to hunt his as well. The problem for me is I never see the birds in the woods. I hear them, but I don't see them. Well, during season anyway. Of course, I'm not hunting and I have all the stealth of a Dodge pick-up with a diesel engine.

On the property the mentor will show me how to set up a blind, call and attract the birds.

BTW, this will be my first time hunting, ever. If you don't count the prey that requires you buy it a drink first.

I plan on setting a new state record and becoming a rockstar in the turkey hunting community. You can all say you knew me when. And for PAFOA members I'll give a discount for my autograph. No need to thank me, your cash will suffice.

Come out here if it's turkey you want. Their everywhere. Hell, I had one in front of me the other day, in line at the bank. I think he had some crap to put in a safety deposit box.

It doesn't take much to amuse me.

I had one of my first retirement episodes that made me laugh yesterday.
I actually wore out a pair of pajama pants.

Anyway, Had some birds and friends drop by yesterday.

I feel like leaving the composter lid off one night to see if the raccoons can get in and out. They sniff around it every night.

I'll leave ya'll with a turkey race. Beards vs hens
