    Default Caliber Consolidation

Does anyone else have an aversion to expand their collection of calibers and just try to stick to one (or two)? Or should every freedom loving American own an auto pistol in the "big 3" - 9, 40 and 45? I won't even include other obvious pistol calibers like .22LR or .38/.357 in the argument.

The reason I ask is because I've been interested in the Ruger SRc series. I don't really have a need for a subcompact 9mm (SR9c), but a subcompact 40 (SR40c) may fill a narrow void to justify the purchase.

I've tried to stay away from .40, only because it seems like having 9 and 45 is "good enough". But I did shoot a Beretta PX4 Compact in .40 and I enjoyed it.

If it's going to be high volume then yes. But I have guns that I don't mind only having a box or two of ammo for. And I shoot them often, I just don't blast away like crazy with them and pay as I go.

I like what would be considered odd-ball today. I try to expand my chamberings as much as possible, except I have no use or desire for 40caliber anythings.

I can not STAND having more than 1 or 2 guns in the same caliber.

I'm just the opposite - I can't stand only having one gun of a certain caliber, and I like to have a decent supply of ammo of each. So I'm trying to limit the number of calibers, but it's a struggle.

I like to try to stick with mostly 9mm and .45ACP.
Almost all my guns are in these 2 calibers.
    And another 9mm on the way(G17 Gen4).

    But I have 1 in .40S&W(G22 Gen4), and fairly recent addition of 10mm(RIA 1911).

To be honest, I've been hooked on 10mm....

I am an equal opportunity (caliber) buyer/collector. If the firearm is priced right and appeals to me, the caliber is immaterial.

I originally tried to stay with one caliber but that didn't last long. I have 9mm, 40, 380 and a 25acp I was recently given. I don't stock much for the 380 though and the 25 is a novelty gun to me so very little ammo on hand for that.

I now have an itching for something in 45 and a revolver in 357. My friends warned me when I purchased my first handgun a few years ago that it wouldn't end there. I should of listened. On the other hand though, I'm glad I didn't.

.40 was more available during the last ammo crunch and continues to be available when 9 and 45 are sold out. However, I sold all my .40's long ago and won't be going back. I have only a few calibers left and I buy in bulk for those calibers….

    That's it. Maybe I'm boring???

I've never met anyone or read of anyone who tried the 10mm and didn't fall in love with it.
What is it about the 10mm that you really like? Might be another caliber I need to add some day. I just won't tell the wife.
