Purchasing Reloading Supplies in Western PA
Hello,
I browsed around and did not find anything directly relating to this topic.
I finally pulled the trigger and finished buying items I needed for my Dillon 550, now I am in need of supplies. I am hoping you guys can point me to stores locally that have powder, primers, and bullets.
I checked out cabelas this weekend and I did not see any powder in stock. I am mainly looking for stores that have a reasonable rep and price that are within 1 to 1.5 of Pittsburgh.
I would like to avoid online buying as I think the 30 hazmat fee is ridiculous!
I am not looking for any specific powders at the moment as I am just getting into the reloading process.
As for bullets, I will need 9mm and .223 at this time.
Thank you for your time guys and gals!

Federal Firearms in Oakdale is worth a shot. I usually get my cast bullets 1000 at a time from Mastercast when there's a gunshow in Washington. Once in awhile you may find primers at the show at a decent price...
There are three kinds of people in this world....them what's good at math and them what ain't.

Check out Rocky mountain reloaders for bullets. Free shipping http://www.shop.rmrbullets.com/ They don't always have .223 but their price on 9mm is hard to beat.

John at Steel City Guns is a straight shooter as far as prices goes. He is a small dealer, in North Versailles, but stocks more powder and primers than most large stores.

Do you know the store hours? If not I will give John a call. His prices seem pretty amazing! I googled the address on his website, it comes up as a residential address, is this correct? I plan on stopping by in the very near future.
Those online prices for those bullets seem great as well, especially with free shipping.
Thank you guys for the input!

This is a small shop behind his house.
He is usually available after 12:00 noon.
Give him a call and let him know I sent you.(George)
He is a member of our club, Pitcairn Monroeville Sportsman Club.
Good Luck.

Big Buck Sport Shop in Wexford has a good loading section and usually had at least some types powder and primers in stock at the height of the run. Haven't been in recently though - might want to call first if you know the specifics of what you're looking for. They usually have a number of the 4lb and 8lb kegs in stock for common pistol/shotgun powders like Unique, Clays, etc. too.
The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their right names.

Re: Purchasing Reloading Supplies in Western PA
Just out of curiosity, I stopped by Big Buck on the way home from work since I hadn't been in for a few months. They had a decent, for these times, selection of 1lb powders. A decent selection of IMR and Hodgdon choices. I picked up one of two bottles of IMR4831 they had on the shelf ($27). There was also some Alliant powders, I noted Reloader 15 (I think) and Reloader 22. There was also a bottle of International Clays. I should have written them down because I have some friends to are on the hunt for stuff too. If you call, I'm sure they'd tell you what they have for 223 and 9mm.
It's a bit of a haul for you from Bethel Park, but they do have some stuff in stock and it's within your 90 minute drive radius. The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their right names.

Re: Purchasing Reloading Supplies in Western PA
FYI for all
IMR4831 is $24 per Lb at Steel City Guns.
He has stock and great prices. He did not gouge at all during the great crisis of "13"
