Rifle ranges that allow standing position?
The closest range (Fleetwood) doesn't allow standing at either rifle range. I don't much care for bench shooting and would prefer spending my time shooting real world positions (standing/prone/kneeling/sitting).
Can anyone tell me where I can go to shoot the way I want?

If you're on the eastern side of the county - Northern Chester County Sportsmens in Elverson allows everything except glass or exploding targets. Shoot whatever you want however you want - just take your targets and trash with you when you leave.

Re: Rifle ranges that allow standing position?
No standing? What....are they concerned about flyers going over the backstops? Are they in close proximity to homes or a town? Are their backstops very low? I'm only asking as I'm just trying to get a feel for why the no standing rule. I'm on the other side of Pa. and have no interest in joining the club nor bashing the club....just getting an understanding of why.
Thanks.

Re: Rifle ranges that allow standing position?
Thanks, I'll check that out.
Sorry, what is LVSA?
I never asked for the reason. The backstops are high enough IMO but there is a farmer's field directly behind out only a couple hundred yards so that's likely the reason, or at least part of it anyway.

Re: Rifle ranges that allow standing position?
Ok. I suppose that's the reason. If they don't have a deep set of woods and it's just open farm land....maybe they like to take a "good neighbor" type of policy. And\or perhaps they have had an issue with standing shooting in the past where bullets have left the range. There's nothing that can shut down your range faster than an injury resulting from a bullet leaving your range. Or if it doesn't shut you down....it can cost you a ton in legal fees.
