    Default Question about a 1911

So I ordered and paid for a rock island armory 1911 at my local gun shop, this one exactly, http://us.armscor.com/products/tac-1911-fs-45acp

They have a S&W available as well for maybe 150 more... I'm kinda thinking when I go to pick it up I should get the S&W instead.... they also have a colt which I can't afford, lol.

Any opinions on this? This would be my first 1911 and I'm not really sure what I'm getting into.

you will gain nothing by getting the s&w. use the extra $150 for ammo.

Yes, it is. I had an Armscor Labeled (same thing, really) 1911 and had nothing but a good experience with it.

That RIA will be a great starter 1911. Shoot the snot out of it for a year or two. Save your money up, and by the time you know exactly what you want in a 1911, the money will already be saved up for it.

Been carrying that exact same pistol for a few years now. Amazing quality for the price you're paying. Watch out if it came with an ACT mag, I'd replace that mag ASAP. But the quality is equal to that of any decent 1911. It's no Colt, but it will serve you very well.
    Everyone should have an AK-47

I've been carrying a Armscor Citadel w/ 3in barrrel for a couple of years and trained with it quite a lot and have never had a problem with feeding. I've used reloaded rounds, steel cased cheap rounds and not one problem so far. Armscor, although Phillapines made, is good quality.

1911 Colt Gold Cup Series 80 was my first pistol... love it (I mention this because it is very similar to the TAC listed above).

Personally, with 45's in general, I would go with what feels good in your hands. For instance, I have shot the H&K mark 23 and personally hate it when compared to the way my Colt feels.

I own two RIA M1911A1's FS love EM both no problems out of the box, shoot pretty tight and remind me of what I carried in uniform.
