    Default What's UR 1st Milsurp?

First I ever bought, and still have BTW, is a Swede 96. All matching, mint rifle. Paid well under $100 for it in 1987-88. With Speer 140 gr SP and 4895 shoots well under 1" for 3 shots.

Two SMLEs. Both became sporterized. Oh well...that's what makes the survivors worth more.

Very accurate rifle. Used to woodchuck with one of 'em. Not overkill. Was all I had at the time.

    First pure milsurp...1903-a3

ooops...no...first was a Japanese Arisaka, a bring-back shortly after WWII when I was a kid. Like a dumb kid I later(12), believing it was junk and ammo unavailable and I threw it into a creek behind my house. Damnit, now I won't sleep tonight...

1943 Springfield M1Garand. I had a great time picking it out at the CMP store. That was a few days before New town, and the store has been pretty much bare ever since. I wonder if they'll ever fill up the racks again?

My first was a sporterized SMLE. My first original was a 96 Swedish Mauser. I still have it, the best shooting surplus rifle I've ever owned.
