Angry Aren't we supposed to be notified

Within a certain timeframe that out LTCF is due for renewal?

I had reason to look at my LTCF today, and see that it expires on Feb.2, 2014!

That leaves me Monday or Tuesday next week to renew...

    18 Pa.C.S. § 6109: (f)(2):
At least 60 days prior to the expiration of each license, the issuing sheriff shall send to the licensee an application for renewal of license. Failure to receive a renewal application shall not relieve a licensee from the responsibility to renew the license.

Have you changed your address since getting your license?

As others have stated, the sheriffs office is suposed to send out notices, but it does not always happen. Its ultimately up to the licence holder to renew on time.

I use an online calendar synced to my phone and laptop to keep all my appointments. I already have an entry at exactly 90 days before my LTCF expires to remind me to send in a renewal.

I also do this for my Utah CFP, sportsman club dues, drivers licence, passport, etc.

You do have a 6 month grace. But I would expect you would have to go to court over this.

    18 Pa.C.S. § 6106: Firearms not to be carried without a license
(b)(12) A person who has a lawfully issued license to carry a firearm pursuant to section 6109 (relating to licenses) and that said license expired within six months prior to the date of arrest and that the individual is otherwise eligible for renewal of the license.

Carrying without a licence is an M1 (I'm not sure if this is prohibiting, but I think so) if you would otherwise qualify for one.
    18 Pa.C.S. § 6106: Firearms not to be carried without a license
(a)(2) A person who is otherwise eligible to possess a [FN1] valid license under this chapter but carries a firearm in any vehicle or any person who carries a firearm concealed on or about his person, except in his place of abode or fixed place of business, without a valid and lawfully issued license and has not committed any other criminal violation commits a misdemeanor of the first degree.

    Supposed to...but I've never received a renewal app...or even a notice.

I asked about it last time I renewed...lady says "I guess they just don't bother with it."

Which is comical because it is probably in her job description to send out renewal letters...

We wouldn't want to "bother" anyone with following the law...would we?

Isn't part of the LTCF fee supposed to pay for sending out renewal apps?
