Krav Maga in Bucks County?
I want to get back into martial arts after a long lapse, assuming my problematic middle aged body (knee issues, shoulder issues) can handle it. I'd like to stick to a more "combatives" style than a traditional style (I've done plenty of the latter earlier in life).
I've never taken Krav Maga but on paper it sounds good. I live in/near Newtown, and can about equally get to:
1. Bucks County Krav Maga (Warminster), or
2. Some place in Huntingdon Valley; the facility name escapes me, but the instructor is Udi Sharabi.
I've never been to either place; don't know anything about any of the instructors. I'm sure I'll scope out both places, but...
has anyone trained at either place? any feedback?
Are there any other combatives schools near Newtown? I've looked online and seen some options, but who knows...

There is also Combat Fitness in Doylestown. I've been wanting to get into Krav Maga for a while now just haven't been able to yet. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Re: Krav Maga in Bucks County?
What are your goals?
If your goal is to learn only the Krav system disregard below.
If your goal is to learn self defense, the pros/cons and applications of various styles including Krav, you might want to consider training with us.
My lifelong friend runs the business. We do a mix of kenpo, krav, muay, you name it, with the purpose of identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the styles and applying them to real world situations (various SD scenarios - one guy, multiple guys, various angles, weapons, etc).

How do you feel about center city? I know Philly Gun Range (former Colossimo's) has Krav classes.
Je suis déplorable

Re: Krav Maga in Bucks County?
I used to live a 10 block walk away from there, but now it's way too far.
I do have the 3 KM places within acceptable driving distance of me...I just could use some vetting of these choices....or an alternative combatives school to consider. For example, I'm not up for BJJ since that kind of pounding and ligament strain is too much for me anymore. A style that's mostly basic combatives, with some takedowns, is ideal.

Get in touch with Shawn Rose. He holds classes on Sundays in a park in Allentown. Probably not so much right now because of the weather though.

Re: Krav Maga in Bucks County?
PS: it's not like I'm sold on KM. On merit, I'd prefer MMA of some kind. I'm frankly unsure what I can actually deal with at age 56, with the usual assortment of rotator cuff, knee, back issues. Anyone have general recommendations, regardless of style, in the Newtown area?

Re: Krav Maga in Bucks County?
A near commute from Newtown, is Combat Fitness Martial Arts (www.combatfitnessmartialarts.com). It's an eclectic school in that it offers eight-- soon to be nine --different martial arts styles and self defense disciplines. If it's MMA you're looking for, Combat Fitness Martial Arts' MMA program is associated with Combat Submission Wrestling (CSW) under Erik Paulson-- who will actually be in the PA/NJ area this weekend (10/24-25). From a Krav Maga and firearms self defense flavor, on Sunday, November 8, there will be a "Home Defense and Personal Protection" workshop[ that will be taught by a current SWAT Deputy Commander from the County area. Here's the registration link: http://cqctacticsatcombatfitness.eventzilla.net.
Take a look at www.combatfitnessmartialarts.com or like our Facebook page by the same name for more information and to keep abreast of news, events, and other happenings.
Best regards,
