Minor scratch fixes?
Hello all,
So i received 2 pistols from my brother, a Baretta 92 and a Kimber 1911 Pro Carry II. The Kimber was pretty beat up (can you say adjusting the sights with a flat head and a hammer???). I have been able to revive it with new sights and a new extractor (couldn't figure out why i was getting beaned by empty shells until i found a bent extractor. How do you do that incased in the slide???), but now i want to work on the "idiot marks", the minor cosmetic scratches that are not that uncommon on the stainless steel slide and frame of the 1911. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions on what i can do (short of buying a new gun....... Hmmm, an excuse to buy a new gun). Thanks for the help in advance

Re: Minor scratch fixes?
If it's naked stainless that is brushed you can use a scotch-brite pad lightly moving in same direction as the grain already present and that ususlly clears things up. Pictures help to give better advice.

Without being sent out to be refinished I don't know what the fix would be. It's a nice gun so a refinish would bring that baby back to "NEW" condition. These guys do nice work and won't break the bank. www.ccrrefinishing.com

guns do not stay new forever. just stick it in the holster and use it. it will pick up more marks as you go a long. get over it.

Re: Minor scratch fixes?
That's not bad at all. Id just deal with it. Or sell it to me for a "scratch and dent" discount.
Or send it to get refinished. I did meet the owner of a local cerakote company Saturday and saw some of his work. Nice guy, looks like he does good work also. http://www.pittsburghcerakote.com
