Default $325 or less 22lr "semi" plinkers

Thinking about picking up another 22lr for plinking..
only have around $325 to spend at this time..

Thinking of Semi with a removable Mag .. as I have two tube fed 22's now
Just looking for a FUN shooter for putting holes in paper..
Would like to get a AR style but most are more than I want to spend now other than the Mossberg Plinkster Tactical Rimfire Rifle & 715T's but have yet to look at them GOOD ??BAD?? or a 10/22 Tactical..

Whats your Favorite in this price range ??

Dont know why but the mossberg tacticals seem to come up for sale quite a bit, perhaps someone who owns one and can give an un-bias opinion would help us as I was thinking of one also.

For a LOT less than $325 you can look for a used Savage, Stevens, Springfield, or High Standard 22LR semi auto rifle. The Savage Model 6, and the Stevens / Springfield Model 87 (there are others), and the High Standard Sport King (Sears Model 25 was a HS-made gun) are all of the same basic design, which shooter/collectors have nicknamed "Click-Clacks" on account of the action.

Photo of a Sears Model 25, made by High Standard:

Pull the trigger and the rifle fires with the bolt blowing back with a "click" sound. IF YOU HOLD THE TRIGGER BACK, the bolt stays back. Releasing the trigger releases the bolt to come forward and chamber a new round, making a "clack" sound.

These rifles were known for their dependability and durability back in the day. They are also sometimes referred to as "gill guns" because there are from two to five or six slots in the left side of the receiver right in line with the rear of the chamber, presumably to vent gas. I generally see them for $100 to $150, and they may need a teardown and thorough cleaning of 22cartridge crud, but they are super-fun plinkers. Get some rigid poly tubing lengths a tad larger than the mag tube, fill them with 22s, and you have cheap and quick speedloaders for your low-cost plinker.

Hard to go wrong with a Marlin 795, a set of Tech Sights, and a GI sling.

    Or how about a Savage 64 TR-SR?
Comes with a Boyds Tacticool stock, threaded barrel, and a rail(made by EGW iirc).
Add an optic like the Lucid HD7 and i think it would be one fun rifle.

Bought my "new" 10/22 synthetic stock stainless barrel from a guy for $170shipped. Never was shot. Hard to beat a 10/22 for the price and you can throw parts at it later if you want. The Ruger BX25 and BX25X2 mags are reliable along with the standard 10 rounders.

Can't go wrong with a 10/22 for the price. I don't have one but I've shot a few. I don't think you can beat them for the price. I has to be the most common one out there so oars and accessories are everywhere. Plus you can make them tacticiool!
Let's just say it's been on the list for a while but I just haven't gotten around to it. I do have a bit of a .22 fetish, I've always loved them. There's just something so fun about them.

Ruger MKII stainless tapered 6 7/8"
    Marlin 25N
    Bersa 223
    Sig 522

I love all my children equally. I don't play any favorites. 😇

    Oars? Really?
Meant to be parts but autocorrect got me again.

You might be able to use it as an oar in a pinch. Except if you have a folding stock.

I think it would be cool if the oars on my boat could shoot .22lr. Hmm, maybe an upcoming project.......

Just had my 10/22 out yesterday. I think I paid $219 for it. Don't think you can beat it. As reliable as they come and as accurate as the ammo/trigger man is. Always a good range trip when you bring out a semi .22 rifle! Cheap too!
