    Default S&W 3913

Just picked this up yesterday. A third generation S&W model 3913. It is a compact 9mm with a stainless slide and an aluminum alloy frame. Made from 1988-99, it is one of the more common and popular third generation S&W's.

The blued version of this pistol is the model 3914.

I picked this up as a companion to my S&W 908. The 908 has been one of my favorite third generation S&W's, along with my 4506. IT is a Value Series version of the 3914.

The 908 was an effort to produce a less expensive pistol. S&W Used a plastic guide rod and sights. They omitted the ambidextrous safety. It also displays less machining of the slide, giving it a more blockier appearance than the 3913/14.

The 3913 slide is on the left and the 908 on the right.

3913 on top, 908 on the bottom.

The 908S was the stainless version of the 908.

S&W also made Lady Smith and Tactical versions of this gun (3913 and 3914). If anyone has pictures of some of these other variations please feel free to post them.

If this 3913 functions and shoots anything like my 908 it is bound to be one of my favorite 9mm's.

Three 3 gen guns I will not part with are my 3913, 3914 and 3953; I should also add a 39-2 and a 59 to the list as well, even though they are older brothers and then add in the 52 and you have "Paradise!" Dave_n

All great guns in my opinion. I had a 3914 and traded it several years ago. I just bought a 908 from a forum member a few weeks ago. I also have a 59 and a 6906. I am considering offering the 6906 for trade for another 5900 series double stack. I will be using the 908 to carry when I want more than my PF9 or P32 Keltecs. Especially since the 908 basically came with a free Don Hume paddle holster. I just need to get to the range to make sure it works as intended before it goes into rotation.

I'm a fan of them too. I have in addition to the 908 and 3913 the following.

    3904, 4506, CS45 and 1066. Plus an absolutely beautiful second generation 559.

    They have all been flawless.

Good luck with that 908, if it's anything like mine you'll absolutely love it.

Beautiful guns - congrats. I have a 6906, a 4046 and a CS40 - love them all. The 6906 probably the best overall. I'm always looking for deals on more. They have proven to be very reliable, very accurate, and for whatever reason, the recoil is greatly reduced in these, or at least it feels that way to me Now you've got me searching again - lol. Enjoy!

Nice pistol, I always wanted a classic Model 39, and for right now this Model 439 will suffice. Nice gun with nice adjustable sights and wide trigger. I'm not a lefty, but it also has an ambi safety. Picked it up during the Surplus City Black Friday sale.

    Nice!

The 39 is on my short list too. If I can ever find a nice one.

At one time, I owned three 3913TSW's. I think that they are the ideal size for a compact 9mm -- not too big and not to small ... perfect for concealed 9mm carry.

Stopped carrying mine when Para came out with the C7-45LDA ... virtually the same size gun but in a .45ACP instead of a 9mm.

The 3913 should serve you well. Best of luck with it.
