Default Picked up a Beretta 71

Picked up the last Beretta 71 at Surplus City earlier today. Went in the morning with my dad, and saw it was still there along with a Rossi 92 Winchester clone. Wanted to possibly get the Rossi, but I thought about the Beretta since I only have one .22 pistol and decided to read some reviews. Of course all the search results mentioned that it was an "Israeli Mossad Assassin Pistol". So I thought that was cooler than "Brazilian made Winchester Clone." Picked it up that afternoon after someone declined to buy it when he found out the suppressor was fake. Also the Rossi's crescent buttplate didn't fit my shoulder like I would have preferred. Does anyone else have one of these? Did your pistol come with the fake suppressor and did you remove it? I can see where they welded over the set screw, I was wondering how you accomplished it. It's a neat little pistol, even with the fake can, though that does obscure the sights. Will be living out some James Bond fantasies with this one.

A fun gun. I have the 70S which is the steel one in 9 mm Kurtz. A little snappy, but since it does not have the suppressor, it conceals well. Dave_n

surplus city had several of these pistols in stock a few weeks ago and while they look cool i passed because the fake can obsured the sites plus the can made the pistol front end heavy. the fake can is permanently attached because without it the pistol would be illegal to import. i don't know if it's legal or not to remove it but I'm sure John Robinson at Claytons could take it off. good luck with it and let us know how it shoots.

Please don't remove the can! If you ever want to sell it I'll take it! I even have a few semis without cans if trade for it!

    Pm me.

Yeah I got it from Surplus City, I took it to the range and it shot very well, the trigger was nice and light, and while the fake can did obscure the sights, I was able to guess the point of impact to a degree by aiming down the center of the fake can. While I was shooting it, I had the opening song from "Casino Royale" playing through my head, so I just might leave the fake can on. I've seen several websites where they took the cans off, I think there's some weird rule about importing pistols with threaded barrels.
