    Default Tripod for spotting scope.

I got a Konus 80mm spotting scope for Christmas. I am more than happy with the optical quality but as others have noted the tripod that comes with it is not that great.

I would like one that would work sitting on a bench or could be extended so that it was self standing and high enough that you could stand and look through it.

    Any suggestions?

Search the web for Champions Choice and Champions Shooters Supplies.
Both are well known in the competitive shooting community.

They have a few different types of stands that will fit your needs, from off the bench to prone, sitting, standing, one stand with extension rods can do it all.

I have a Slik tripod and it works well for spotting scopes and for rifles as well.

I was thinking about upgrading my tripod, if you are interested in purchase, PM me. I haven't used mine much, but it will support any spotting scope and most rifles.

I don't know if I have ever seen a tripod that collapses small enough or extends tall enough for both sitting and standing use. The guys that I have seen with this capability use a Creedmore Polecat or similar set up with additional threaded sections that can be added or subtracted.

I bought a Vortex for my Leopold this past fall. Absolutely love it. Here's a link to the one I got.

Here's one that a few friends run for High Power Matches. It's kind of unique.

I have this tripod as well, and a saddle for a rifle rest to go with it. I use it for comps so it gets knocked around quite a bit and still works just fine.

I like this one because it collapses very small, and you can set it up for prone use by folding the legs way out. Very light, stable, etc.

    Greetings,

Exactly what I use with the same spotting scope the OP has. It's too large to work off a bench though. Believe it was for an older video camera; so it's pretty heavy duty. Think it cost me $15 (2nd hand).

    Regards, Jim
