Unbelievable...

Just moved out here from the left coast recently, and decided to get what is essentially impossible to get unless you're from the political class in the People's Republic of Klownifornia: a concealed carry permit.

So I went out to the Lancaster County Sheriff's office and was wondering how many weeks it might take to get my permit. I had no idea what to even expect, or what would happen with the background check, or photos or anything else.

As it turns out, I was in and out in twenty minutes, background check, photos, permit and all! The folks in the Sheriff's office were pretty friendly too. Completely unexpected but extremely pleasant suprise. My friends out there are alternately shocked at how much easier it is out here and dismayed that they may never get what we have. I keep telling them to donate to the 2AF and Calguns Foundation and hope for the best, but I'm not optimistic when state legislators like Kevin DeLeon talk about "30 magazine clips"...

As for me, I will rest easier tonight, if a bit chillier. Meantime, keep fighting for your rights, Pennsylvania. It can and will get worse if you let it, so don't let it.

Welcome to Lancaster PA. Congratulations on getting out of California. The Lancaster county sheriffs' office makes the ltcf process pretty painless. The only thing better would be if no ltcf would be needed at all.

Again, Welcome to Lancaster. The Lancaster Sheriff is pretty good, about getting it, although there's a couple of the guards that are idiots if you happen to be carrying a firearm to be checked or a pocket knife.

Welcome to Lancaster! I'm glad your experience was positive and I hope you continue to enjoy the area. Aside from some negative folks here (and everywhere) I believe you get what you project...be kind and you will receive kindness back.

I just re-read that and had to laugh...one of my kids would laugh at reading that as it sounded pretty 'hippie' and I'm the most anti-hippie cat you can find. Nevertheless, I do think it's true. Now find a gun club and get to the range!

What enforceable cc laws exist in Philly? You need a ltcf to cc like everywhere else in Pa.
