I'm curious what others use on their plastic framed firearms. I am pretty sure that Hoppes 9 is a no no on plastic .... so I have just been cleaning mine with oils , then wipe it dry and wipe off again with a silicone cloth. The dirtiest part after shooting is usually the muzzle end , with powder build up , so what do some of you guys/gals use on yours?

I mostly just wipe the buildup with Rem Oil to get most of it off, then a dry cloth to finish up.

Ive been using Kleen-bore on my XD45 for 2 years and my USP for 5...with no signs of wear. On the frame. The ink that is in the serial number on the USP is beginning to fade...but its no big deal because it is engraved as well.

Hot water!

if your water is hot enough, it will evaporate and leave nothing behind, If you so choose, you could also blow any extra water away with a compressor..

I use either Kleen bore or Birchwood Kasey bore scrubber on both my Glock and Walther for as long as I have owned them. There is no weakening or any sign of chemical type reaction.

the birchwood casey gun scrubber is good but make sure you get the "synthetic safe" formula. been using it on my xd for......... a while.

why is hoppes a nono on plastic/polymer?

I use Break-Free, cleans and protects it. Now if I'm doing a complete disassembly and really want it to be sparkling clean, I use Simple Green on everything, it's nontoxic and biodegradable and in about 2 years of using it, seen no sighs of wear. I use it on all my guns even to clean slide on my Glock after every shoot and it gets all the nasty stuff off. It smells great also and man all so fresh and clean!!! I would do a test area first, but like I said, I've used it on all my guns. Must be rinsed well in water and do not allow Simple Green to dry on it. I also use a blow dryer on warm to dry everything. I learned this from a master gunsmith. Use at you own discretion!!!
