Tanfoglio BTA90
Picked this up at the Allentown show recently, and wondering if anyone has any info on it. I know Tanfoglio turned into EAA, and the price was right, so I grabbed it, but now I'm looking for some specifics.
I wrote to www.tanfoglio.it w/ the Serial No. requesting some info, but thought I'd tap the POOFA knowledge base also. Any help appreciated, and if/when I get a response from the manufacturer I'll post it here. Range report is still pending. Thanks.Blessed are they who, faced with danger, think only of the front sight. -- Jeff Cooper

Re: Tanfoglio BTA90
When my dept transitioned to semi-autos being on a marine unit on the water we were allowed to choose our firearm,mine was the bta 9mm,excellent performer,accurate,but remember it being heavy after a twelve hour tour,after that gun our dept went to the Glock 19s which were a lot lighter and more capacity.What did you pay ? I recall in the early 80s about $229 ? good luck with it,you just cant beat those guns.

Re: Tanfoglio BTA90
That pistol is based off the CZ 75 design with a different trigger system and of course it is a de-cocker. They are excellent shooters , mags should be available at Greg Cote LLC. If you go to the original CZ forum -go to the clone section and ask your questions there. You will find some individuals who are very know a lot about these pistols. It is a nice heavy steel compact that soaks up felt recoil and they are accurate shooters. Don't be afraid of giving it a good workout at the range.

Thanks for the info. I'm sure I'll need another mag, and Greg Cote looks like the place to get it (way cheaper than ammoclip.com).
I paid a titch over $300 with the cash discount. Yep, it's a dense little bugger, but can't wait to shoot it.Blessed are they who, faced with danger, think only of the front sight. -- Jeff Cooper

Well, got a reply from Italia with info on the new purchase . . .
====================
We received your message and we thank you.
The pistol Mod. BTA90 bearing serial number Gxxxxx was made in May
1989 and sold our former USA importer Excam Inc. in June 13th, 1989.
We don’t produce theBTA90 model from 1990 when our former importer

Very helpful since the date code stamp AU wasn't on any of the online lists I could find. I guess it's one of those "transitional" models.
Here's some basic results from the first range test.
